It is tremendously exciting for me to announce that I shall be attending a Yoga Teacher Training Course from September 2012 through March 2013. It’s no secret that I’m an enthusiastic yogi and fitness geek, and I’m greatly looking forward to deepening my knowledge of body through this program. As my approach to BDSM and erotic work becomes more holistic, I feel a greater desire to infuse my play with my practice. Very good question. I’m a huge fan of role play, and of exploring persona through sex and eroticism. I employ extremely different tones and styles of communicating depending on what role I am playing, and how deeply I am immersed in that role. As far as personality type goes, I do not consider any of these roles as being part of my personality so much as my sexual persona. A lot of people are multi-facetted in their sexuality, which is why so many people enjoy things like role play. A lot of people have a shadow side to their eros, or places they want to go in their imagination that are hard to access without transforming who they are, at least a little. Playing with persona in role play is also what makes edgier play possible, because it’s a means of safely enacting fantasies. Why actually be a cruel and dangerous kidnapper when you can safely give that illicit desire air with consenting play partners for a few hours, in the form of role play? Afterwards, you get to put the persona and desire back to bed and turn back into your normal self.
I believe that persona extends far beyond the bedroom, and is something we employ naturally everyday to navigate various social situations.
